I had a lot more time for crafting before my son was born, so I took the opportunity to make blocks as decoration for his room that could be used as toys as he got older. I found this blog on Pinterest that showed me how to make the blocks, but I took a few liberties of my own. The original blog was posted on the following website:

The original blogger used photographs, but since I did not have any photos other than ultrasounds to use, I went to the thrift shop searching for children's alphabet books and nautical themed books. We were planning a nautical themed nursery. To make up the rest of the block faces, I bought some scrapbook paper to print words and letters onto. The original blogger also used an antiquing method that I opted not to use. Then ModPodge and spray ModPodge with a little sanding between coats and wait for it to dry!
I think the results were pretty cute! Mason thinks they are great fun to play with too!
